I dreamt about this awesome manga with all sorts of cool stuff and fun times, and when I woke up, I couldn't remember any of the details about it. Which sucks, I was hoping to actually read it or even write it down or something. Never mind the fact that I am limited to drawing blueprints >>;

But I have been thinking, wouldn't be awesome if you had an accurate mood ring? Like an actual thing where you can tell other people's emotions at the time? It would be really useful....

Testing is underway for the starch battery! We pretty much genetically modified a potato to consist of nothing but starch and I think it's going to power what we want to it. I'll have to try the batches with different amped objects and then see how long each one takes, and the experimentation process for that is going to take a while, but we're moving forward!

The word bank for the cat translator is slow moving progress though :( Apparently, our test cats are pretty reticent, which sucks. But whatever, I'm resigned to me not being able to finish this by the end of the year...it doesn't look too bright for the translator future.

Another thing that isn't bright for my future is that nii-san wants to foist his kid off on me for their anniversary in a week's time...it cries a lot. And won't sit still. I can barely deal with it for ten minutes, let alone a whole night. I don't know what I'm going to do >>;

So, I was reading an interesting article about how scientists could potentially use water in batteries as a fuel and conductor. Which got me thinking about something. You know how like in elementary school, we use potatoes as small batteries for clocks and things? Couldn't we use other electrochemical substances that are as organic as potatoes to make electricity? It'd be a lot greener, like this water thing, if they get that working. Because then, if your battery explodes, you wouldn't be in danger of burning your finger, but just a small splashing or even having some starch product hit you.

Anyway, Maru-chan! Movies! Which action movie do you reckon has the cheesiest name: Reckoning Grudges or Pursuit of Redemption? Since those seem to be the worse movies around this year~

And no Gakkun, your electric wheelchair is not going to be any faster than walking pace :|

Nap Time

Haven't slept in a while, but Hiro-kun's not in critical condition anymore, so, I think it's safe to nap for a bit~

I found out lots in England, mainly about how this project might require some serious work on my behalf, but it's promising as far as the device goes! I should be able to go ahead with it :D

It was fun, Gakkun! Sorry it got cut short. We'll do it again, sometime, next time I have research to do in other countries.

[ooc: So...the project is not actually viable in real life, because the only differentiated bacteria that exists is in your brain and your gut flora...which aren't exactly going to be left behind at a crime scene. But this is RP, so I can pretend :D]

Contacted the bacteria article man...and he emailed back and it kinda went back and forth! He's really nice and willing to put up with all of my stupid questions since I don't know much biology beyond what we did in high school. But as for how the bacteria might be able to be detected by chemicals, he said that he'd conducted an experiment that I really had to come to England in person and see that would help me get it more.

I told him it would have to wait until the New Year or after, because one, I'm really busy, but also two, because I want to understand the stuff he's talking about before I go see him! Gaaaaakkkuuun, can you translate some chemistry into japanese for me? Or English too! That works! I don't get much of his technical explanations. Maybe I shouldn't have morphed into physics mumbo-jumbo when he asked for an explanation of what I was thinking about doing....

He also said that I should set up a bacteria culture myself to understand it better, but that's not ever going to happen. For one, Marui-kun works with food, so not at home, because that's asking for something to go wrong. And work is so messy, that it might accidentally get lost or opened, which is worse. I can just look at the Bio department's stuff, I think.

But I really hope that I can get this project working. I really want to make an invention that can really make a difference instead of just increasing convenience of life.

Wow, I'm so busy! My schedule's all packed! It's nice to be kinda busy, but I may have to sneak in occasional naps so I can be on my top game :) Okay, so correct me if I'm wrong. Kei-kun's party on the 21st and the 22nd, then dinner with Chou-kun on the 24th and Hara-kun's karaoke show on the same night. Then breakfast at Kei-kun's house with Hiro-kun and Ryou-kun on the 25th, then lunch at aniki's house on the 26th! Did I miss anything?

The animal-translator word bank finally finished~! I can make some proper progress there now :D But we've hit something of a roadblock, in that Lucky and Charmed's movements and tone of barking are scanned by the computer, but that we need to make a bit of negative space and leeway for the movements to be different. I guess it's like how we all talk a little differently? Different accents and tones apply for dogs too, because their movements will be slightly more pronounced or less pronounced and the tones may vary slightly. So I guess we just need to try the translator out on several dogs and see the kinds of variation we can get? I dunno.

But I've also had another idea for an invention. I was reading this article when I was travelling and it was about how everybody has unique bacteria to them, because everybody's body is a little different and that changes the niches of your microbiome. So the bacteria, which change and adapt according to their environment really fast, because their generation times are so much shorter than the animal kingdom. So i was thinking, most criminals now know to wear gloves and things to try and hide their finger prints and skin shedding. But you can't hide your bacteria. If there was a way to detect the bacteria and scan the bacteria for every person, it could be a new way to help find criminals.
